Testimonials
“ Bryan Carrier went above and beyond to ensure my experience, from beginning to end, was a positive one. Thanks again Bryan! ”
“ Had a great service appointment with John Scales and CJ (Tech with very long last name). Both were professional, to the point, and offered me a solution to a mechanical problem that not only saved me about 80% of the original quote, but was practical and did not result in unnecessary work being done. Very impressed with the honest approach and still getting the desired result of my vehicle back on the road in great condition. Look forward to giving them more business in the future. ”
“ Garrett was a phenomenal salesman and we thoroughly enjoyed purchasing our Tacoma from him! He is personable, accurate with details, and made our experience at Deny Menholt one that we would 100% recommend! ”
“ Denny Menholt Toyota’s service department is fantastic. Their shop rate is surprisingly competitive but more importantly, they have genuinely competent technicians who do a great job every time we take in our old Toyota tractors for service/repairs. Their service writer, Michelle, is brilliant. No BS, she speaks matter of factly and her knowledge is amazing. You can absolutely trust her and her technicians to make the right call on whatever job needs to be done. That is why we continue to have our 2001 TRD Tacoma with 400k and our 2009 Lexus GX (V8 4Runner in drag) with 300k on it serviced at this dealership. Tire and lube places we’ve tried have somehow immediately gotten themselves in over their heads with the simplest repairs and then charged a fortune for shoddy work done by the hour. There is nothing more expensive than cheap labor, so save yourself the money and brain damage and just take your Toyota/Lexus to Michelle at Denny Menholt. ”
“ Trever went out of his way to determine my needs and quickly identified the vehicles for test driving. He took his time with each of the vehicles that fit my criteria. We went to lunch and upon returning, he correctly identified the vehicle we came back to purchase and already had it washed. We were impressed! ”
“ Garrett was very easy to work woth, kept me informed through every step of the process, and I am very happy with my experience Denny Menholt Toyota! ”
“ Phil Cyber son was exceptional in guiding us through our recent vehicle purchase. Very knowledgeable and helpful explaining the vehicle featured. ”
“ I had the chance to work with CJ in the service department, and he was awesome and very reassuring every step of the way through my troubles. I’d be happy to speak with him again in the future and will definitely let others know he’s a great person to talk to ”
“ Best car buying experience I have ever had. Dan was super knowledgeable and accommodating. Would definitely recommend! ”
“ Nick and Kris were great in helping me find my new ride! Got a great price and a good deal for my trade in. Thank you boys! ”
“ Excellent service and professionalism ”
“ I was on a long road trip from Washington State to Norfolk Va, I had an alternator go out, and already had stays and plans booked. This place was able to get me in and out within an hour and a half. Their compassion, and effort was able to keep this from being a nightmare journey. If I am ever back in South Dakota, this is the only place I’d go to get service. Professional, compassionate and fast. 5/5 stars. ”
“ During a cross-country trip, my son's 2000 4Runner started having engine problems. It was a stressful situation because my son had to be in Boston in 3 days. We took the car to Menholt Toyota. Our issue was handled by John Scales in the Service Dept. John was able to get the 4Runner in for service immediately. Fortunately, the problem was minor and my son was back on the road that day. Special shout-out to John Scales for the friendly and excellent service he provided. ”
“ During a cross-country trip, a bird struck my radiator and punctured the core on July 3rd as I was heading into Badlands National Park. I managed to get the car to Rapid City, and after the long Fourth of July weekend, I brought it in and spoke with Eric in the service department. He and one of the mechanics, Will, were able to get a new radiator the very next morning and had me back on the road in no time. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received! ”
“ Great deals, great people. Ask for kris. ”
“ One of the best Toyota dealerships in the country. We travel the country in our RV, pulled by our amazing Tundra so we see a lot of dealerships. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful, clearly explained in detail the EPR oil treatment recommended for our 90,000 mile checkup up. Robert was patient and thorough in his explanation. We initially declined but decided within 10 minutes to have it done. Very grateful and thankful for his help. ”
“ After having a not great attempted buying experience at another dealership in town, we decided to try out Denny Menholt Toyota. Dan was very friendly and informative on the vehicles I was interested in. I let him know the parameters I needed to stay in for a vehicle, and he stayed in them perfectly. He never tried to upsale or encourage me into a vehicle outside my parameters. Dan was able to get me into a nice Durango, and we stayed perfectly in my ideal payment zone. It was easily the smoothest car buying experience I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely return when it’s time to get another car. ”
“ I was driving across country when near wall I started having some car issues. Called Menholt Toyota while driving made an appointment next morning. Showed up early hoping to get done and back on the road. They (Eric) took me hours before my appointment! Excellent service!!! Back heading home. Need to ask my Toyota dealer in Washington state why they are so much more expensive ???? Thanks Denny Menholt Toyota and especially Eric!!!!👍 ”
“ First we’ve found working with Trever Neal most pleasant. He is enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, never takes a guess to answer a question and if he’s (rarely) not absolutely sure he finds the answer elsewhere, making our purchasing decisions logical, knowledgeable and simple. It was rewarding to deal with a salesman that was honest and excelled in integrity., Second after the sale and taking possession of our RAV4 Hybrid Trever bent over backwards to answer questions showing extreme patience with two 81 and 80 y/o’s not so digitally savvy owners. He stayed at until we got it which has resulted in two confident drivers that are really enjoying the new car and all the geek things it does. Trever went out of his way to solve a towing issue to our satisfaction and the service department did a stellar hitch install. We are looking forward to a long and rewarding experience with Denny Menholt in Rapid City, SD in the coming years. Thank you! ”
“ I recently purchased a car from Johnny Trokey, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. They took the time to understand my needs and preferences, ensuring I found the perfect vehicle. The showroom was clean and well-organized, showcasing a wide range of options. The financing process was straightforward, with transparent terms and no hidden fees. I appreciated the follow-up after my purchase, ensuring everything was satisfactory. I highly recommend Johnny Trokey to anyone in the market for a new or used car. Their commitment to customer satisfaction is truly unparalleled! ”
“ Our thanks to the team at Denny Menholt Toyota for their services and kindness during our recent need for emergency service. From getting prompt service to getting transportation to and from our hotel to the complementary car wash everyone was great. As people who had traveled from Canada it's nice to be able to count on nice folks like those at Denny Menholt Toyota. ”
“ Enjoyed the experience. Sales people were friendly and easy to work with. ”
“ Nick Thurman was very honest and knowledgeable. He provided excellent customer service and followed up with me promptly. 10/10 ”
“ Mike G was so awesome! Helped us purchase husbands dream truck ❤️ he went above and beyond and was very patient with us. We did not feel any pressure and they were so easy to work with. Id recommend Mike to anyone looking to buy a vehicle. He is a kind and genuine man! ”
“ Had a great experience buying a 4Runner for my wife. Trevor Neal made the process painless and took great care of us throughout and my wife is thrilled with the new SUV. ”
“ Nick Carter (salesman) was GREAT!!! I wanted a vehicle that wasn't on the lot. He kept looking for about one year, and finally found one that met my requirements. All Employees at Denny Menholt are excellent to work with! I highly recommend Denny Menholt Toyota! ”
“ They definitely were not willing to deal much, but when I discovered a problem with the vehicle before I even purchased it, they fixed it. The salesman was ok. I do wish their service dept people werent so darn rude and sexist. Ive been there 3 times and they were incredibly rude each time, the last time making a very sexist comment and upset both me and my daughter. ”
“ We purchased this car. ”
“ Exactly what I hoped it wouldn't be. I took a car, with a rebuilt/salvage title from 2016, in to see if they'd be interested in buying it. The 2nd star comes from the gentleman being courteous with the offer of drinks and letting me use his charger... otherwise it'd be a 1 star, negative 3 if allowed, experience. Before I do any dealings with cars, equipment, bikes, etc I always take the time to find out as much as I can before going in about whatever it is im looking fir or selling. I already had fairly decent idea of the local market value, the up to 40% off that for the rebuilt title a dealership may offer, and private party vs. Trade in values vs. Selling to a dealership. Plus, I had several offers from out of state places already that we'd done a video walk through on, which barring any accident or natural disasters, were locked in. Just negotiating shipping. He came back, after "checking with the bosses", hemming and having how the title made it impossible for them to buy. But nit just them. Nationally there were standards to be met and no one in the area would buy a salvage title. He couldn't think of a single place really. Which, if it was true, then salvage titles wouldnt be a thing. Needless to say, after the dog and pony show, I nearly walked. But curiosity kept me around long enough to ask about 2 other vehicles. One with high mileage, one that just sacrificed its bumper to.bambi. After ridiculously lowballed maybes (over $700 below Kelly's blue book on one, and $900 below Edmunds on the other for trade in value) I left. The next 3 dealerships, Gateway, McKee, Cars'R"Us were way more helpful and I ended up selling the "unsaleable" for $1200. All of them were pleasant, helpful, and made offers. Moral of the review: shop around for buying AND selling...and dont listen to doomsday naysayers. ”
“ We are travelling (not from here) and had leak in rear tire of our 2023 Sienna. Stopped at this dealership to see if they could help us out via Toyota Care, they could not and referred us to local tire center. Previous travel and stop at a dealership in Tennessee, they fit us in right away. ”
“ Service department is incompetent. Had a defective rear ball bearing replaced only to find out the alignment is off and it has been driving like crap since the work was done. ”
“ Was truly looking at buying or leasing a new Tacoma but after the sales manager said if he had it his way he wouldn't honor Toyota specific rebates and deals, yeah I love Toyota but not this dealership there high prices on almost all the vehicles way above market especially used vehicles. Drive to SFalls or Colorado you'll save alot of hassle and money. ”
“ Get glossy mailings every month addressed to me and another addressed to my deceased father. Have been trying to get off the mailing list for 2 years. Dealer says I have to call corporate. Corporate says the dealers are in charge of mailings. Tried to call Denny but he's not around, even though his name is on my truck. Hey man, I'm already advertising for you, why can't you take me off the mailing list? How come none of your employees know how to do this? ”
“ Aside from Kris worst dealership experience ever. Hardly any new cars to look at, and the tall white sales guy was a jerk to Kris, and my family who was working with him. ”
“ Melissa was fantastic. Other than that Toyota in Rapid City has been absolute garbage. Toyota replaced my cv axles on my 2006 Tacoma at 170k miles. Not long afterwards I began to experienced unusual road noise. I brought the truck back in at 199k miles for a “multi-point inspection” and was told my cv axles would need to be replaced again. Obviously struck by the fact I would need to replace a part that the was so recently repaired by the same “OEM” repair station, I began to ask questions. I learned that Rapid City Toyota replaced my cv axles with aftermarket parts and incorrect boots for the aftermarket cv axles. Their remedy to the situation was to replace my cv axles with actual OEM parts and charge me $800. I wised up and took the vehicle elsewhere for proper repairs at reasonable cost. Upon doing so I learned that I have been driving around with a completely SHOT front wheel bearing (explaining the road noise). Wouldn’t you think test driving the vehicle would be a part of the checks? So much for a Multi-Point Inspection. Won’t bring my truck back again. ”
“ Dropped tundra off for service. Went back to pick up and truck was unlocked and someone had gone thru truck and stole things out of my console. Service guy in dealership really didn't care. To me it's a real invasion of my privacy. ”
“ I had to bring my car in to get a second key fob programmed since the dealership I originally bought it from didn’t send a spare, however; the original dealership said that they would pay for the spare key. I talked with Michelle over the phone the day prior to coming and said told me they don’t do appointments for that type of thing so I needed to come in between 7:30-8:30 am. I got to Toyota right at 8:00 AM and waited on my car for 3 hours. At no point did Michelle (who was the one that checked me in when I arrived) or any other customer service rep come speak to me during those 3 hours. Finally I went to see how much longer it would take and Michelle let me know my car was done 45 minutes ago! Her excuse as to why she let me sit there for that long was she was incredibly busy and waiting on the payment from my original dealership. Not once did she think to have the courtesy to let me know my car was done and ask me to contact the other dealership. Michelle never even apologized for making me wait an extra 45 minutes and instead just kept saying how busy she was. When I asked how long she was going to let me sit there for, beyond the 3 hours I already waited just for a key fob to be programmed, she just kept saying she never had a free moment. It was clear she had no intent of letting me know. I also made it clear every other customer in the waiting area (about 20 feet away from Michelle’s computer) had a rep come talk to them when their vehicle was done. I called and left a message for Les Nelson, the manager of the service department, but never heard back. The lack of customer service from Michelle Brown at Toyota was the worst I’ve ever experienced. I’m extremely upset with my experience at Denny Menholt. ”
“ If you mention another deal with anyone else they happily tell you “better go buy from them! We wont go any lower on our prices.” Ive been told this multiple tomes by several salespeople. So be sure to go buy elsewhere. They encourage it ”
“ I recently had my vehicle in the shop to check for a potential seal leak underneath. After waiting two hours, I was told nothing was found—no big deal. However, I later discovered that the skid plate, which covers the oil pan, was not reinstalled. I live over an hour away, so this was a significant inconvenience. When I called the shop, I was initially told the skid plate must have fallen off, and the person I spoke with acted like ordering a replacement was a hassle. The tone was dismissive and rude. I called back to confirm the cost, only to be told by Eric that they did, in fact, have the skid plate in the back. This is a large, important part—not something minor. When I mentioned the difficulty of driving all the way back to Rapid, Eric became increasingly rude, saying things like: “Well, what is it you’re asking for? Gas to Rapid?” and “A $20 bill to come here?” The reality is that returning to fix their mistake involves over two hours of my time and additional fuel costs. Good customer service means owning up to a mistake and making it right without the customer having to push for basic accountability or reimbursement. At the very least, an apology and a proactive solution should have been offered. Based on this experience, I will not be purchasing another vehicle from Toyota. I also would not suggest having your car worked on at this shop. ”

“ Mike Grant is the guy to go to! You simply call him, tell him what you are looking for and he won't stop until you are driving away in exactly what you want. He has been my go to sales guy and will continue to be for future purchases! ”
